With airfare prices climbing, flyers hoping to find a cheap ticket might need to consider the airport they’re flying from. Finance site FinanceBuzz analyzed average domestic airfares from the 45 busiest airports in the United States to determine which airports were the cheapest for departures.

According to the study, flyers will have the best chance of scoring a cheap flight if they’re leaving from Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (FLL) in Florida. The Fort Lauderdale airport is less than 30 miles away from Miami, making it a good airport to check if flights from Miami are expensive. 

The Most Expensive Airports to Fly out Of

Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Virginia was ranked as the most expensive airport for departures. A good alternative airport to fly from would be nearby Ronald Regan Washington National Airport (DCA), which is less than 30 miles away—and also features a Metro stop, making it easier and cheaper to get to downtown Washington, D.C. However, DCA is primarily a domestic airport, and you’ll find more international options leaving out of IAD.
