How to Earn Lifetime Elite Perks with Hilton

In Hilton’s HHonors program, there’s Blue status (anyone), Silver status (awarded after four stays or 10 nights in a year), Gold status (20 stays or 40 nights), and Diamond status (30 stays or 60 nights).

What the programs of Hyatt, Marriott, and Starwood had that Hilton conspicuously lacked was lifetime status. That hole was plugged this week, with the publication of the requirements for Lifetime Diamond status.

Effective immediately, Lifetime Diamond status will be awarded to HHonors members who:

  • Have earned Diamond status for 10 years (not necessarily consecutive), and
  • Have stayed 1,000 paid nights

For that, you get, well, Diamond perks for life, including:

  • 50% bonus on points earned
  • Guaranteed room availability when booking at least 48 hours out
  • Fifth night free on award stays
  • Late check-out
  • Complimentary health-club access

The move is welcome, and long overdue. But as with all things loyalty program-related, it comes with a buzz kill of a disclaimer: “Lifetime Diamond Status is granted at the discretion of HHonors Worldwide, LLC and may be ended, or amended with or without notice or compensation, at HHonors’ sole discretion.”
