Earlier this month, when Delta announced that it was raising the price of annual Sky Club lounge memberships by 54 percent, many travelers responded with raised eyebrows and a gruff “For what?”
Perhaps in response to that question, Delta today posted the following announcement on its Taking Off blog:
At the Delta Sky Club, we are continuing to invest in improving your experience. We’re pleased to announce the launch of our new test offering a fresh menu of complimentary food, a variety of new beverages and exciting complimentary services in 10 Clubs across the country between mid February and late April.
Among the specifics Delta mentions:
- Pancakes and “upgraded” bagels for breakfast, sandwiches and hot soups mid-day, and hors d’oeuvres, antipasti, and dessert choices in the evening
- Shoe shines, manicures, and chair massages
- Finlandia vodka
Customer feedback on the new features will determine which are included in a systemwide lounge upgrade promised for this summer.

What would Delta have to do to justify your paying 54 percent more for lounge access?
