The New York Daily News reports that Patrick Morgan, a 50-year old janitor at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, found $13,000 in cash and an iPad while cleaning. Morgan, who makes just $625 a week, turned the cash and iPad over to airport officials, and then found the frantic flyer who was looking for his lost valuables, returning the goods to him.
The flyer, who was returning home from a successful trip in Vegas, offered Morgan a $60 reward. Morgan took the cash and gave it to a homeless woman and a colleague who needed money.
The Broward County Aviation Department and Sunshine Cleaning Systems rewarded Morgan for his honest actions with an extra week’s pay.
We think that some of the TSA agents who have been busted recently for stealing from passengers (read examples here, here, here, and here), should learn a lesson from this janitor!
