Welcome to the wild west at Rocky Mountain National Park. There’s 415 square miles of pristine nature to explore, including over 300 miles of hiking trails. Short on time? Cover the most ground on the paved roads around the park. Start with a drive down Old Fall River Road, the park’s first paved road. Go slow though, as there are no guard rails!
Bikers and drivers alike can explore the Trail Ridge Road, which is the U.S.A’s highest continuous paved road. Along the way, you’ll climb around 4,000 feet in just minutes, so be prepared for temperature drops.
To see everything up close, go for a hike along one of the many trails. There’s winter hikes available, where you’ll pass by frozen waterfalls, as well fall foliage trails and summer summit treks.
Where Is it? Northern Colorado. Fly to Denver International Airport (check prices).
Where to Stay? Shining fans should stay at the Stanley Hotel, Stephen King’s inspiration for his famous novel.
Who’s it for? Bikers, hikers, riders, fishermen, and drivers!
