Colorado’s Wild Animal Sanctuary: A Safari Close to Home

Go on a safari just outside of Denver, and see lions, tigers, bears, and even a camel! The Wild Animal Sanctuary makes a great day trip for families or people who love animals. The sanctuary rescues large exotic animals and provides a natural environment for them to live in. The rescue stories, of tigers taken from tiny cages outside of gas stations to former Mexican circus animals, will definitely make you feel good about your visit.

The Sanctuary opened to the public in 2003, and now features a Mile Into the Wild Walkway. The system of elevated walkways and observation decks let visitors admire the animals from above, without having to confine the animals in cages. Where else but on a wildlife safari can you see exotic animals like these in the open?

Besides all the cute animals, you might even spot some celebrities! Actress Jessical Biel endorsed the Sanctuary, and Animal Planet filmed Growing Up Black Leopard here.

Where to Stay? The closest accommodation is the nearby Keene Motel.

What Else Should I Know? Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
