If you think it’s too late to make spring travel plans, check out these last-minute deals we found for travel to Florida, Hawaii, Vancouver, Mexico, and even Europe. If you’re looking for a quick escape, browse this month’s selection of weekend getaways. And no matter where you’re traveling, look to SmarterTravel’s air deal reviews to find low fares to your destination.
New Orleans
For those looking to help others during their vacation, the New Orleans Marriott is offering a Big Easy Spirit to Serve Voluntourism Getaway. Rates begin at $139 and include accommodations, $50 to the Greater New Orleans Habitat for Humanity, breakfast for two, and recommendations for community service projects in the area from the Care Concierge. This package is available through March 31 when using promotional code “P54.”
Palm Springs
From March 12 through May 2, the Riviera Resort & Spa is offering special spring break rates starting at $155 per night. The resort is ideal for families, and has a special kids menu, a Kids Club area, and tons of activities such as family movies, poolside marshmallow roasts, ice cream socials, caricatures, and henna tattoos. For adults, there are aqua aerobics classes and free five-minute poolside massages. Nearby Joshua Tree State Park and Tahquitz Canyon offer hiking opportunities for those looking to stretch their legs beyond resort grounds. To make reservations, or to view other specials and packages, visit the hotel’s website.
Hawaii
It’s one of the Top Five Bargain Destinations for Spring, and through April 5, Pleasant Holidays has cut prices on vacation packages to four Hawaiian Islands, including Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and the Big Island. Rates begin at $469 for three nights with round-trip airfare from Los Angeles or San Francisco (other departure cities are available at a higher price). You can add on a fourth or fifth night; five-night vacations through March 31 will get a free Hertz car rental.
Vancouver
As one of SmarterTravel’s Top Five Off-Peak Destinations for Spring, and with Olympic energy still lingering, Vancouver is a great option if you’re looking for a last-minute trip. The Four Seasons Resort Whistler and Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver are offering a Sea-to-Sky Adventure package with rates starting at $235 CAD per night, or about $227 (see xe.com for current exchange rates), for stays from early April to mid-June (prices in March are higher). This package allows you to divide a four-night stay between the city and mountains any way you want. To book, visit the Four Seasons website.
Puerto Rico
As one of our 10 Best Budget Islands in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico is a good place to look if you have your heart set on a spring trip to the Caribbean. Don’t waste time renewing or getting a passport—US citizens don’t need one. Plus, Cheap Caribbean has four-night packages with roundtrip air starting at $399 after $100 in instant savings with promotional code “100PR.” Travel is valid through May 31 at these rates.
Panama City Beach
Another of our Top Five Bargain Destinations for Spring, Panama City Beach attracts a younger crowd during college spring break vacation periods. The tourism board even has a special spring break website to help with planning, featuring links to affordable accommodations, dining, and nightlife. You can also view a list of events taking place in the city this spring. If you can’t find last-minute accommodations deals through the spring break website, VRBO has several vacation rental listings in Panama City Beach, including one on Sunrise Beach that sleeps up to eight people starting at $1,200 per week, or less than $22 per person per night.
Mexico
For those willing to risk travel to destinations with typically large crowds of spring-break travelers, both Acapulco and Cancun are offering deals. For those traveling with a group, vacation rentals offer a lot of space and are often an inexpensive alternative to hotels. Rentalo features several vacation rentals in both Acapulco and Cancun. For example, I found a studio at the Blue Bay Club in Cancun that sleeps three people starting at $500 for a seven-night stay, or about $24 per person per night.
Europe
Got your eyes set on Europe? This might be the perfect time to snag a low fare to Europe, before the crowds—and fares—increase. There are several airfare sales going on right now for travel in March, but you must act quickly, as many of the sales end soon. Check out deals from Lufthansa, American, and Air France. For flights to London, look to Virgin Atlantic. You can also find cheap accommodations from Accor Hotels. Several of its brands are offering rooms from $53 per night in popular European ski locations like Austria, Switzerland, and France.
