By all accounts, 2008 hasn’t been a great year for travelers. The airline industry has lost a few carriers, added fees and raised fares, cut capacity and eliminated free beverages, and even jacked up the price to fly with your pet. It would not be unfair to say that this year has been brutal.
So, what are you thankful for? Seriously, I’m not losing my mind—which of this year’s travel-related developments are you thankful for? I ask, because despite all the bad news, there’s been some good mixed in as well. For example, I’m thankful for in-flight Wi-Fi and the TSA’s pledge to phase out the 3-1-1 rule on carry-on baggage, both of which will make flying more enjoyable. I’m also thankful that some airlines still let you check a bag and sip a Coke (or Pepsi, I’m not playing favorites) without making you reach for your wallet.
So tell me, readers, as you embark on your journey homeward this Thanksgiving (or, if you’re lucky, as you prepare for visitors), what are you thankful for?
