Given that couples' massages at the Ritz-Carlton range from $220 to $360, you're getting the room, breakfast, and valet at a very reasonable rate.

Saratoga Springs, New York
The mineral springs throughout Saratoga have long been a main draw for tourists, and spas throughout the area have channeled these healing waters in their treatment packages. Check out the promotions at The Medbery Inn and Spa in nearby Ballston Spa for extra value—the property's 2-Night Lodging & Spa Package includes two nights' accommodations, a mineral bath, and facial for $325, double occupancy, midweek.

The Oaks at Ojai, California
The Oaks at Ojai, about an hour and a half north of Los Angeles, is a destination spa focusing on wellness and health. Rates start at $185 per person per night midweek and include lodging, meals, fitness classes, snacks and beverages, seminars, and use of the spa's pool, saunas, hot tub, and fitness equipment. Visit through December 19 to take advantage of the Hard Hat Special and get 20 percent off rooms in the main building while the property is remodeled. The Oaks also offers extensive spa services, which can be purchased a la carte or bundled in with your room rate.

Ubud Sari Health Resort, Bali
OK, so it might cost a lot to get to Bali. But once you're there, you'll be able to take advantage of very affordable hotels and spas, such as the Ubud Sari Health Resort. Cottage and villa accommodations start at $60 per night, including breakfast and use of the resort's pool, whirlpool, steam room, and sauna. The spa is just as budget-friendly: A 25-minute foot massage costs $7, or choose a four-hour spa package for $70.

You can get a massage while listening to the soothing sounds of the Atlantic at The Cliff House Resort & Spa in Ogunquit, Maine. Plus, get more for less by taking advantage of the resort's shoulder-season specials from October 26 through December 6. You'll get two nights' lodging, daily breakfast, a lobster dinner, and a $100 spa credit for $380 per person based on double occupancy.

Hot Springs, Arkansas
Bath houses, salons and massage parlors, and natural springs can fill a Hot Springs, Arkansas, spa getaway. Known for both warm and cool springs, the region is also home to Hot Springs National Park, which is always free to visit. If you'd like a more structured experience, consider a bath and spa package at a local inn or salon, such as the Mini-Spa Getaway at the Butler Manor. The package, starting at $550, includes two nights' accommodations, daily breakfast, use of property facilities, and a 25-minute massage, facial, and pedicure followed by tea and refreshments.

The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, California
The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, situated in the heart of California Wine Country, features a Rejuvenation Package including lodging, daily breakfast, one 50-minute spa treatment per person per night, and use of the hotel's bathhouse and participation in its bathing ritual. The package costs $519 per night, double occupancy (or approximately $260 per person). When I priced the room, spa services, breakfast, and bathing ritual a la carte, the total came to approximately $340 per person—by choosing the promotion, you'll save about 24 percent off regular rates.

Berkeley Springs, West Virginia
Berkeley Springs, West Virginia bills itself as the country's "first spa" destination, as travelers have sought relaxation and healing in the area's warm mineral springs since colonial times. Many of the waters are concentrated in Berkeley Springs State Park; its spa features Roman and standard baths, massage services, and more. A la carte prices range from $20 (for a Roman bath) to $80 (bath, shower, and 60-minute massage). For maximum affordability, visit in fall or winter: The nearby Cacapon Resort State Park has a midweek Spa Package including lodging and one spa treatment for $121 per person based on double occupancy, available November through March.
