There are many, many promotions. But there are only a few really, really good ones.
In this monthly roundup, we highlight the five most lucrative offers currently available to members of airline and hotel loyalty programs.
(Promotions are listed in alphabetical order.)
1. Alaska doubles the miles between Seattle and L.A. or San Francisco
Through May 15, members of Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan program who fly two round-trips between Seattle and Los Angeles or Seattle and San Francisco will earn double miles on those routes during the remainder of 2008. Double miles are only valid for flights between Los Angeles (LAX) and Seattle and San Francisco (SFO) and Seattle, completed from May 16 through December 31.
Registration is required.
2. Choice stays earn triple points
Through April 17, members of the Choice Privileges program will receive 10 bonus points per dollar spent on qualifying stays at Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn, Clarion, and Cambria Suites hotels in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Register prior to check-in to receive an additional 10 bonus points per dollar spent on all subsequent qualifying stays during the promotion period.
3. Double miles and points for New York Hilton stays
When contemplating a hotel stay in New York City, bonuses generally aren’t in the mix. Demand is so strong that hotels tend to be fully booked, at premium prices, without the need to offer special incentives. So the following is a welcome opportunity to make a Big Apple stay extra rewarding.
Through April 30, members of the programs of American, Continental, and United will earn double miles and double HHonors points for stays at participating Hilton family hotels in New York City. Thirteen hotels, in every price range, are eligible.
To receive the bonus when booking by phone, request Plan Code H2 for Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, or The Waldorf=Astoria Collection hotels or Plan Code HH2 for Doubletree, Embassy Suites, or Hampton Inn hotels.
4. Bonus miles for new Amsterdam flights
Amsterdam, anyone?
Northwest and partner KLM will launch new nonstop service to Schiphol Airport from Portland and Dallas on March 29. To promote the new flights, members of Northwest’s WorldPerks programs can earn up to 15,000 bonus miles per round-trip—7,500 each way for business class (J or C booking class), 5,000 each way for selected coach fares (Z, Y, S, B, or M class), and 2,500 each way for discounted coach (H, Q, V, L, T, or K class).
Register by May 31 for travel completed by June 15.
5. United offers more miles for London flights
To promote its new flights between Denver and London, launching March 30, United is offering bonus miles for round-trips completed by May 31, as follows: 7,500 bonus miles for first class (F, P, or A booking class), 5,000 bonus miles for business (C or D booking class), 3,000 for discounted business (Z booking class) or economy (Y, B, M, or H booking class), and 1,500 bonus miles for discounted economy (Q,V,W, or S booking class).
Registration is required.
