Find deals on official tourism websites

Looking for ways to cut costs on a trip? You can often find discounts, special packages, and other ways to save on lodging, attractions, and more on the websites of a destination’s convention and visitors bureau (CVB) or the local chamber of commerce. So, when you’re planning a trip, be sure to visit your destination’s official tourism site, and look for tabs or links labeled “deals,” “special offers,” “travel promotions,” and such. Here are some of the offerings I found doing a quick online search:

  • NYC & Company has a deal database you can search by travel dates, location, and provider type. I found 26 deals for travel over the next month, including offers for free airport transfers, sample sale discounts, and free MetroCards.
  • The Orlando and Orange County CVB lists accommodations deals, sells discounted attraction passes, and offers its own discount pass (the Orlando Magicard), which you can use at numerous Orlando venues.
  • The Las Vegas CVB has a deal search function for accommodations where you can find discount rates and hotel packages including extras like spa passes and two-for-one show tickets.

As always, before you book any deals found on a CVB or chamber website, be sure to compare promotions available through other sources, including those directly from the provider. The deals listed on tourism websites are not always comprehensive or the best available.
