Toronto-based airline breaks into U.S. market

Starting March 31, popular Toronto-based Porter Airlines will break into the U.S. market by offering daily round-trip flights between Toronto City Center and Newark Liberty International airports.

Fares for one-way flights may start at only $120 CAD (about $120 U.S.; check XE.com for current exchange rates), but Porter Airlines is all about style and comfort. While on board, passengers are treated to complimentary snacks, wine and beer; and seats have two to three inches of extra legroom. The airline offers three different options for booking tickets, including Freedom, Flexible, and Firm, that will best fit each customer’s needs.

This may be only the first of many U.S. routes for Porter Airlines, especially if their treatment of passengers is only half as good as what they claim. Even that would be superior to what many U.S.-based airlines have to offer.
