When [% 14665 | | Celebrity %] needed help designing the staterooms on the Celebrity Solstice, it sought advice from five women. According to Celebrity, women are both the primary cruise planners and the most discerning guests, so their input is crucial.
Cabins will be an average of 15 percent larger than on other ships. For the first time, certain adjoining staterooms will have a double set of doors, so both the staterooms and balconies can be opened up into one larger area. Neutral colors will dominate to give a classic look, and additional storage space will reduce clutter. The bathrooms will contain glass showers with fog-free mirrors and a foot rail for ease of leg shaving.
In addition, the ladies concocted the idea of an adults-only class of staterooms called AquaClass. These 130 cabins will be double-occupancy-only, and highlight pampering elements such as a jetted bodywash shower, a choice of pillow types, fancy toiletries, and a selection of teas, juices, and bottled water. In addition, guests in these rooms will have unlimited access to the AquaSpa relaxation room, the Persian Garden aromatherapy and steam room, and an exclusive dining room called Blu.
The Celebrity Solstice will set out on its maiden voyage on December 14, 2008. The 2,850-passenger ship will sail seven-night eastern Caribbean itineraries out of Ft. Lauderdale. Prices for balcony cabins start at $1,099 per person based on double occupancy.
