A bit of luxury on easyCruise?

It’s practically unthinkable—no-frills easyCruise has embraced the luxury lifestyle. The cruise line that prides itself on tiny cabins, basic amenities, and a la carte services has just added a spa.

Yes, guests on easyCruiseOne will be able to purchase onboard spa treatments beginning February 16. The cruise line has collaborated with Apivita, a Greek company that makes natural skin-care products, to offer facials, massages, manicures, and pedicures to guests.

Prices range from $10 for a 10-minute massage to $70 for an anticellulite massage and body treatment—pretty cheap for cruise-line spa rates. Even the “exclusive” manicures and pedicures are inexpensive at $20 and $25, respectively; “express” versions cost $12 and $17.

I have no experience with Apivita, so I can’t say if the low prices represent shoddy service or a welcome lack of the typical cruise line price gouge. Perhaps a simple treatment room keeps costs down for the cruise line. Regardless of quality, additional activities and amenities are always welcome on easyCruise. Besides, a massage may be necessary after multiple nights spent sleeping on a mattress on the floor.
