Nantucket is gearing up for its first annual restaurant week, to be held from October 6 to 14. Not content to do it like all the other cities adopting restaurant weeks or months, the event will conclude on October 14 with a chowder contest, where local restaurants will go head-to-head (or would that be spoon-to-spoon?) for best chowder bragging rights.
I just finished an article (it will be out on Thursday) about fall festivals, and one thing that struck me as I was writing it was just how many seafood festivals there are during fall. This restaurant week, which aligns sampling menus with access to the freshest of the sea, seems like a case of two great things that taste great together.
