Crystal adds enrichment programs to 2007 world cruise

What do you do on a cruise ship for 109 days? You take classes—that is if you’re sailing on the Crystal Serenity.

Crystal has introduced several new enrichment programs to its 2007 world cruise. Courses are free of charge to guests, but there is a fee for earning college credits. The new courses include:

• Collegiate courses in computers that are eligible for three college credits or continuing education units.
• A memoir-writing class with journalist and writing teacher Joe Kita.
• Yamaha keyboard classes focusing on composition, arranging, improvisation, chord studies, and playing by ear.
• Acting workshops that lead to a show performed by the students for their fellow cruisers.
• Art classes including new workshops in mosaics, mask-making, and jewelry-making.

According to Crystal, “creative expression through cultural arts and music improves mental agility, language processing, and depression.” I can’t vouch that these classes will make you smarter and happier, but they do sound like a fun way to pass the time on a four-month cruise.
