Pirates of the Caribbean fans now have extra reasons to book a Disney cruise. The actual Flying Dutchman ghost ship used to film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest is anchored off Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island. Plus, Captain Jack Sparrow (presumably not played by Johnny Depp) will be making appearances on the island, as well.
Disney is encouraging guests to use the pirate ship as a backdrop to their holiday photos. And, visitors can rent boats to get a closer look at the ship’s barnacle-covered bow and ghoulish tattered sails. Captain Jack Sparrow will roam the island telling his tales, posing for photos, and signing autographs.
And on Friday, July 7, cruisers on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will be treated to a premier screening of the new movie at 12:01 a.m. It’s too late to stow away on one of these sailings, but movie fans who want to see the ship should book sooner rather than later. You never know how long a ghost ship will stick around.
