Has JetBlue finally dethroned reigning low-cost king Southwest? Yes, according to OAG‘s recent awards ceremony in London. Agence France-Presse reports that JetBlue took home the prize for “Best Low Cost/No Frills Airline” over Southwest, easyJet, and Virgin Blue (the latter two of which are foreign airlines).
Other winners this year include Cathay Pacific (named airline of the year and best airline based in Asia), British Airways (top transatlantic carrier and best airline based in Western Europe), and Continental (best North American airline and best for business travelers). Winners were decided based on votes by actual travelers.
Where do the airlines rank in your mind? Let me know and I may print your response next week.
