Dude, the ms Maasdam is totally excellent. Holland America has spent $225 million in its “Signature of Excellence” initiative to upgrade all of its ships, and after a stay in drydock, the Maasdam is now the final ship in the fleet to receive the makeover.
So how excellent are Holland America’s ships? They now have “Culinary Arts Centers,” state-of-the-art show kitchens where guest chefs and experts can perform cooking demonstrations and classes. The Explorations Cafe is a coffee shop/library/computer center combo with various New York Times amenities. Expanded youth centers are available for guests aged three through 12. And, an expanded Greenhouse Spa and Salon features more treatment rooms, a thermal suite and hydro-pool, and a larger fitness center.
Rock on, HAL!
