Carnival is switching the itineraries of the Fantasy and the Sensation. Due to a technical issue on the Sensation that limits its maximum speed (but doesn’t affect anything else), that ship will sail three- and four-day Bahamas itineraries originally intended for the Fantasy. The Fantasy in turn will take over the Sensation‘s four- and five-day Bahamas and Grand Turk itineraries.
Confused? Don’t worry. As the two ships have identical designs, you’ll never know the difference once you’re onboard. Reservations will automatically be switched and cruise documents with the original ship name will be valid on the new ship. You just need to make it to the right ship on the right day.
The Fantasy will sail the four- and five-day cruises through October 19 and then reposition to New Orleans to take over the Sensation‘s itineraries there. The Sensation will sail to the Bahamas year-round. Carnival has not announced whether they plan on fixing the technical problem or whether the Sensation is doomed to trudge slowly through the ocean forever more.
