Spirit Airlines, my second-favorite airline (can you guess the first?) is going to start flying daily to and from San Francisco this spring. Spirit, if you haven’t been paying attention, is doing crazy things these days—crazy things like offering $9 fares to the Caribbean on more than one occasion already this year. So, good news for all you San Franciscans. (Or is it San Franciscites? I really don’t know.)
Anyway, the details: Spirit is introducing the daily service starting May 25 with nonstop flights between San Fran and Detroit and connecting service to LaGuardia, Orlando, Myrtle Beach, Ft. Myers, Cancun, and Atlantic City. The airline will fly its new Airbus A319 planes on the routes, and in fact plans to complete upgrading its entire fleet to new Airbuses by this fall. San Francisco fares will start at $129 each way.
Sweet.
