Expect to pay an extra $10 to $20 on your next American flight. Effective Tuesday, the nation’s largest carrier is raising its fuel surcharge on most transatlantic and transpacific flights, excluding those to Japan.
It’s too soon to know if the move will stick. We should have a better sense of whether other airlines will match the increase within a few days. If they do, the extra charge is likely here to stay. If not, look for American to roll it back. I’ll keep you posted.
