American announced it will join the growing number of carriers switching to cashless cabins. This summer, the carrier will phase out cash for onboard purchases, meaning passengers will need to swipe their plastic in order to snag a snack, beverage, or a set of headphones.
Southwest, [[Virgin America]], [[JetBlue]], [[ AirTran]], and [[Frontier Airlines | Frontier]] are among the airlines with cashless cabins, so American already has a great deal of company. The carrier says it will accept all major credit and debit cards.
