Sometimes it just takes a weekend to beat back airline price hikes, but here it is, six days after American Airlines announced it would raise fares by $20, and, at least from American, there’s no hasty retreat in sight.
However, both Continental and Northwest have rolled back part of their own increases, so all is not lost. All this is according to a Reuter’s story posted on MSNBC.com that details the aftermath of the latest fare increase.
Farecompare.com’s Rick Seaney is quoted in the article predicting one more attempted fare increase by the end of year. Will it stick? We’ll just have to wait and see.
