Clubs in Brussels, Belgium don’t get crowded until about 1 a.m., when people start to gather in the best bars and dance pubs. Dancing, of course, lasts until morning.

Mirano is a popular nightclub in Brussels, and has two entrances: “guest list” and “members,” so you might need to know someone to get in. It’s in a great location with interesting people, music, and friendly staff. Table reservations are only available to members and have a minimum drink requirement.

In front of the St. Gilles Prison, Cellule 133a is great place to dance tango on Friday evenings and the last Sunday of the month (from 4pm). The atmosphere is relaxed, with sofas and candlelight dotting a wooden floor under its glass roof.

Pubs and Bars

The Hotel Empire has a cozy lounge called Boulevard that’s perfect for a quick pick-me-up at the beginning of the evening and a nightcap before turning in. This is one of the cheapest bars in Oostende and it has a band of local regulars who are always chatty and welcoming. The bartender is also the hotel’s receptionist, so the bar never closes: no matter what time it is, there are always customers.

For night owls, De Zeegeuzen is a proper drinking pub with friendly service and relatively cheap beer. It doesn’t open until 5 pm but it also doesn’t have a set closing time (although it is closed Tuesdays). There’s occasionally live jazz performances.

If you’re looking for karaoke at a lively pub that’s open late, head to the Spanish Inn, built in the 16th century. It opens at 8 p.m. and karaoke starts around 9 pm.
