Best rental-car company, based on customer satisfaction? According to the latest J.D. Power survey, it’s National.
The study is a measure of customer satisfaction in six areas: cost and fees; pick-up process; return process; rental car; shuttle bus/van; and reservation process. Results reflect the opinions of more than 12,000 travelers renting from airport locations over a 12-month period.
Based on the survey’s 1,000-point scale, the scores, from highest to lowest, were as follows:
- 809 – National
- 799 – Enterprise
- 782 – Alamo
- 773 – Hertz
- 770 – Avis
- 764 – Budget
- 751 – Thrifty
- 743 – Dollar
Interestingly, National, Enterprise, and Alamo — the top-three finishers — are all owned by Enterprise Holdings. Although the three companies have very different images and business models, there’s apparently something in the corporate DNA that consumers respond positively to.
