“Salud,” “prost,” “skal,” or “cheers”—there are plenty of ways to raise a toast around the world, and even more tipples with which to fill your glass. Some, like French champagne, are worth traveling across borders to try. Others, like baby mouse wine or Wasabi vodka, will take a little more daring to sample. Are you brave enough to try any of these bizarre drinks from around the world?

250,000 Scovilles Naga Chili Vodka
Maybe the Brits got tired of (untrue) jokes about their bland cuisine and this is their revenge—a distillery in England has come up with Scovilles Naga Chili Vodka that uses the insanely hot Naga Jolokia chili pepper. These peppers are some of the world's hottest—they outrank even pepper spray on the Scoville scale (which measures hotness). If you thought your hangover after a night of drinking vodka was bad, imagine the morning-after regret of a few shots of this.

Chicha de Jora
Chicha is popular in South and Central America, but you won't find any authentic versions of this corn beer in the health-code-crazy USA. That's because this drink is traditionally made by putting ground maize in the brewer's mouth (so that the saliva can activate the fermentation process), shaping the maize into balls, and then aging it into something resembling sour beer.
Hvalur (Dung Smoked Whale Testicle Beer)
Have you ever sipped your weak American light beer and thought, "Man, this needs more hints of dung and whale testicle in the flavor profile"? If so, you're probably very drunk and should put down the beer. Or perhaps your tastes are just more suited to Iceland, where Hvalur, a beer made with dung-smoked whale testicle, actually exists. For a better explanation of this delicacy, please watch this video from the brewery, in which a nice Icelandic man in a wool sweater walks you through the process.
Yogurito
Want to feel healthy but also take the edge off after a long day? Order up a Yogurito (produced in Holland, but popular throughout Japan), a yogurt-based drink that contains a whopping 16 percent alcohol. Yogurito is usually mixed with fruit juice to make a smoothie-like cocktail. Hey, it's got dairy and fruit, so it's practically a health shake.
Brennivin
Iceland's famous schnapps, Brennivin, is nicknamed "black death," and the name literally translates as "burning wine". Clearly, the makers of Brennivin don't worry too much about marketing. The liquor is made from fermented potato mash and caraway seeds and it is designed to have a powerful taste, which is why it's often served with Iceland's national dish, Hakarl (fermented shark). That's a taste you're probably going to want out of your mouth ASAP, even if you're replacing it with the taste of "black death."
Mama Juana
Mama Juana is a Dominican drink that's made from rum, red wine, and honey that has been soaked with tree bark and herbs. The herbal mix is believed to give this drink healing properties, and it's rumored to be able to cure the flu and other illnesses. Bonus: It tastes better than a shot of Nyquil.
Baby Mouse Wine
The unfortunately accurately named baby mouse wine can be found in rural areas throughout China and Korea. As the name implies, it is made from baby mice soaked in rice wine. Some people believe that the drink has curative properties for your health…maybe because you just may vomit up whatever is ailing you.
Abashiri Pink Beer
I feel like I need to cleanse your palette after introducing you to the horror that is baby mouse wine, so I'll follow that up with a bizarre but nice pink beer. Abashiri Pink Beer is made in Japan and gets its color and flavor from cherries. There, isn't that better?
Agwa De Bolivia (Coca Leaf Liqueur)
If you're turning to Agwa De Bolivia as a pick-me-up, since it's the only coca liqueur in the world, you're going to be disappointed–coca leafs are used to make this herbal liqueur, but the cocaine alkaloids are removed, so you won't get anything other than a regular alcohol buzz. Although Bolivian coca leaves are used in the recipe, Agwa de Bolivia is produced in Amsterdam, so look for this bright green spirit there.
Peanut Butter and Jam Bourbon
The existence of peanut butter and jam bourbon baffles me on so many levels. First, it's made in London, a place where peanut butter is relegated to the "American" section of the supermarket. Second, it contains raspberry syrup and pink Himalayan rock salt. But hey, I've never tried this, so maybe it's another peanut butter flavored case of "two great tastes that taste great together."
