Sintra, which is a resort town near Lisbon, is one of the most popular destinations for tourists in Portugal. Not only is this town located near the capital of Portugal, but it also located in the foothills of Sintra Mountains. Due to the many landmarks and attractions in Sintra, it is important that tourists have access to cheap and convenient transportation. Here are some tips about the buses around town.
Take the #434 Bus
If you’re a tourist in Sintra, chances are you want to be able to visit as many attractions and landmarks as possible. Unfortunately, these sites can be very far away from each other. One of the cheapest ways to travel around Sintra is by taking the #434 Bus. You can buy a ticket for just €4.60 from the bus driver. The ticket will last you an entire day, which makes the #434 Bus one of the cheapest options for transportation in Sintra. Bus #434 takes a circular route around Sintra and stops at many attractions, such as the Palácio da Pena, Castelo dos Mouros, and the Sintra Vila.
The bus passes by the bus stop near the train station a few times every hour. You can get on and off the #434 Bus wherever you want and whenever, which makes it a very convenient option for transporation.
If you prefer to walk from site to site, keep in mind that the trek from Castelo dos Mouros and Palácio da Pena can be an hour long climb up a steep hill. However, if you’re fit enough for such a trek, you will enjoy the breath-taking sights and beautiful woodlands.
Take the #435 Bus
Another bus that you can take in Sintra is the #435 Bus. This bus stops near the Sintra Vila and the Museu do Brinquedo and then goes to the Montserrate, Quinta da Regaleira, and the Palace of Seteais. You can buy a ticket for this bus from the driver. You will find these buses at the bus stops located near the train station. A ticket for the #435 Bus costs even less than the ticket for the #434 Bus. You will only pay a few cents for a ticket for the #435 Bus. Therefore, if you only need to go to Sintra Vila, you should take the #435 Bus rather than the #434 Bus.
