How To Get a Free Private Chef on Your Next Vacation

Is a vacation really a vacation if you still wind up in the kitchen cooking for your family? Having a private chef take care of all the cooking (and the cleaning) is a dream that might feel out of reach for us non-one-percenters, but a new collaboration between Club Wyndham and Take a Chef allows travelers to take along a private chef on their next trip—for free.

The program includes one meal for up to four people cooked by a private chef when booking select Club Wyndham properties.

We tested the promotion on a recent trip to New York City, where we stayed at Club Wyndham Midtown 45, a stylish apartment-style property in Manhattan. The spacious two-bedroom suite was bigger than most New York City apartments and featured a fully-equipped kitchen for the chef to create a delicious meal.

Our assigned chef from the program was Rob Ritchie. Pre-trip communication was simple, and Chef Rob crafted a delectable menu featuring homemade sushi, fried green tomatoes (sourced from the chef’s own garden), cookies, and gelato. He arrived with everything he needed to cook, so no grocery shopping or preparation was necessary on our end.

Although our room had a large dining room table, we opted to enjoy our dinner on the hotel’s rooftop terrace, so we could enjoy our dinner against a stunning backdrop of the Manhattan skyline—much to the envy of the other guests.

After the meal, Chef Rob left the kitchen sparkling, so we didn’t have to worry about doing the dishes or taking out the trash.

With a prime location in midtown Manhattan, Club Wyndham Midtown 45 offers a convenient pied-à-terre in the city.

The property features standard guestrooms and suites ranging in size from studios to two bedrooms that can comfortably sleep up to six guests.

We stayed in a fully furnished two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite, which featured 760 sq. ft. of space (a serious luxury for New York). The suite was well-appointed with separate living/dining space, a fully-stocked kitchen with a full-size refrigerator and stovetop, and incredible views of the Chrysler Building.

The homey-feeling hotel hosts daily events for guests, which range from champagne on the rooftop to a milk and cookies mixer.

Amenities include:

  • Fitness center
  • Wi-Fi
  • Rooftop lounge
  • Laundry facilities
  • Valet parking
