Danube River Cruise

My trip started in Los Angeles, CA, where I got my flight to Amsterdam.

I was met at the airport and taken to the ship The River Duchess. The staff was there to greet all the passengers. My cabin was ready and so I was able to settle in right away.

Since we had free time and I was traveling by myself, I had a the desk clerk call a taxi for me. Off to downtown Amsterdam I went. Amsterdam is such a beautiful city, walked around did some shopping and had a cup of tea at an Irish pub. There’s a windmill village close to Amsterdam and my taxi driver took me there. Very interesting. The meals served on board were marvelous. So much to choose from.

In Amsterdam, we went on a canal cruise and also had a city tour of Amsterdam. If you are into museums, there are several to see.

From Amsterdam the ship sailed to Zaandam, where we went on another tour to Keukenhof Gardens to see the tulips.

Our next stop was Hoorn, where we had two tours. We had a walking tour in Hoorn in the morning. Then in the afternoon it was off to he Enkhuizen Museum, which is an open air musuem. Lots of buildings to see.

After another delicious dinner, I went to the lounge to listen to the entertainer on board.

This trip has been on my bucket list for a long time now, so it was a dream come true.

The next stop was Arnhem, where we had a choice of tours. I chose the Liberation Museum tour. At the end of this tour, we were served Dutch apple pie, YUMMY!!!!
Wonderful staff, very atttentive to your every need.
