Bahamas, Caribbean

When To Go

Consisting of nearly 700 islands and islets, fewer than 30 of which are inhabited, the Bahamas remain a mysterious and exciting place to vacation. The climate stays fairly warm throughout the year and is interrupted only by occasional light and intermittent showers, especially during the summer rainy season. Breezes off the Atlantic Ocean help to keep the islands cool during the winter, making it the best time to visit.

high season: December to April
low season: June to September
shoulder season: May, October to November

Weather Information

The islands typically have a temperate climate year-round. Summer temperatures average between 80 and 85 degrees, with an increased chance of rain during this low season. The weather during the winter high season is comfortable, with temperatures between 70 and 75 degrees. Hurricanes are possible from June to November.

Crowd Information

Large crowds attend the Junkanoo parades that take place on Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) and on New Year's Day, both beginning at 1:00 a.m. and lasting until after 9:00 a.m. Warm conditions during the winter attract visitors as well.

Closure Information

Restaurants, hotels, and shops stay open year-round.
