This week has seen United double its second-checked-bag fee, while industry pundits suggest extra charges are here to stay, even if jet fuel prices continue to decline. With this in mind, I would like to ask you a few questions.
First, do you go out of your way to fly on a particular carrier? On the flip side, do you avoid specific carriers? With so many airlines charging such a wide array of fees, it’s hard to know who is giving the fairest shake. Tell me which airlines you fly, which you don’t, and share any advice you think might be useful to others.
Of course, it’s not that simple, is it? What happens if your destination or departure city of choice may not be served by the airline you prefer? Have you changed travel plans in order to fly or avoid a certain carrier? Have you simply canceled plans altogether?
I’d like to get some good discussion going here, so please submit a comment below. If all goes well, I’ll do more blogs like this in the coming weeks.
OK, enough reading. Discuss!
