Dushanbe is the capital city of the country of Tajikistan. The word translates to “Monday” in the native language because of the huge market that was held there each Monday. The city was formerly called Stalinabad when it was under Russian rule. There is a thriving nightlife in the city. Here are some of the reasons why.

Port Said

This is the nightclub to check out if you are a fan of less stuffy. It has a more western influence than many of the other nightclubs in the area. The most common things to drink there are beer, vodka, and cognac. It is one of the more popular bars in Dushanbe for Americans to party and you can usually spot them because they are the ones wearing ball caps.

Take a Walk in the Evening

The Rudaski Prospect is one of the more popular areas to walk around in the city. This is thanks to the floodlit buildings. The buildings are lit up in pastel colors and are quite a sight to see. The evening is still warm enough to walk around in most of the year in Tajikistan.

Club People’s

Club People’s is one of the most popular bars in the city because of its unique clientele. It is a good idea to go there with a local there to get the full experience.

Choykhana Rokhat

This is a great restaurant in the Rudaki Prospect. The Persian style restaurant has an open front, giving it a nice breeze in the evening. Because of this, it is more popular in the summer than the winter. Weddings and receptions are hosted there on a regular basis and there is often live music being performed on the deck.
