If you’re trying to smuggle something on a plane, never try to hide it in a bottle of liquids. Airport security always finds bottles breaking the 3-1-1 rule. One South Korean passenger learned this the hard way, when she was busted at China’s Guangzhou Airport with a bottle full of liquids—and a mouth full of tadpoles.
The woman was stopped by customs who noticed a bottle of liquid in her hand luggage, reports the NY Daily News. The officials told her to either drink the liquid, or throw the bottle away, so the woman chugged the contents.
She then held the liquid in her mouth but didn’t swallow, hoping she could carry on the tadpoles in her mouth. Obviously, the officials became suspicious as she stood there with bulging cheeks. They forced her to spit the contents out in to a bucket, and were shocked when dozens of tadpoles came out.
The woman reportedly told the officials that she had been gifted the tadpoles and didn’t want to leave them behind. Unfortunately, she was not allowed to bring them on board, and had to fly back to South Korea tadpole-less. No word on whether the tadpoles survived their misadventure.
