Frequent flyer fee chart shows airline mileage charges

You asked for it and now you’ve got it: A frequent flyer fees chart showing all the new (and not so new) charges the airlines impose for processing award tickets, reactivation of miles, and other mileage-related “services,” courtesy of our friends over at sister site Airfarewatchdog.com. The chart details frequent flyer fees charged by AirTran, Alaska, American, Continental, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Northwest, Southwest, Spirit, United, US Airways, and Virgin America.

A quick look at the chart shows that, as with standard airline extras, Southwest charges the fewest fees (just $50 to reactivate expired miles). Likewise, the airlines that have felt desperate enough to add first-checked-bag fees—American, United, and US Airways—also go heavy on the mileage fees. Delta lays it on too, charging up to $50 to process award tickets.

SmarterTravel.com and our sister sites will continue to monitor and report on new airline fees as they come up. In the meantime, you can read about non-frequent-flyer fees by downloading our ultimate fees guide.
