If you have stout-soaked dreams of visiting the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, but Ireland is a little too far, you can raise a glass to some good news: Guinness is opening its first U.S.-based brewery on August 3.
The Guinness Open Gate Brewery and Barrel House will be located in Baltimore County (just south of downtown Baltimore) in the former historic Calvert distillery site. Visitors will be able to take tours, dine on bar food, and, of course, sample plenty of beers.
Sorry, classic Guinness lovers–the American site won’t be brewing the iconic Guinness stouts (those will only be made in Dublin and imported in to the U.S.). Instead, it will be pumping out Guinness Blonde American Lager and small-batch new beers (current drafts on tap include a Cherry Stout, Guava Wit, and Oatmeal Stout).
Are you planning a Baltimore road trip after reading this news?
