Herceg-Novi is a small town that borders both the Croatia and Bosnian borders. If you are visiting this town, you may not want to rent a car. It is easy to get lost, as many streets are one way. If you go the wrong way, you may find yourself stuck in the border crossing mess with no way to easily turn around. As such, relying on local Herceg-Novi transportation is recommended. Here are a few ways to get around in this country.

Bus

The easiest and most convenient way to get around Herceg-Novi without renting a car is to use the bus. There is a bus that runs to all of the major tourist destinations in town and all of the major areas of travel, including the cruise port, ferry port and airports. There are also busses that will take you into neighboring regions for more money. The buses tend to run about every 15 minutes and run late into the night. However, be advised that they can be crowded and are standing room only often.

Plane

If you are looking to travel to any surrounding countries while on your trip, there are daily charter flights to those countries. These flights may only be about 20 minutes to a couple hours, which is much faster than driving several hours per day. Check with the airport to find out which charter flights they have available on which days. They often travel to many different European countries, though the number of flights and were varies based on demand.

Ferry

There is a ferry across the bay to and from Herceg-Novi. They run about every half an hour. However, they still may take you much more time to reach your destination than by road. If you want a scenic view, this is the way to go. If you are in a hurry, you may opt for driving yourself.
