You might remember that over last summer, Hotwire tried out waiving its airfare booking fees. Well, now it has done away with airfare booking fees on both opaque and retail listings. And good riddance.
Booking fees, which you’ll find at many other online agencies as well as directly through airlines if you book on the phone or in person, give a real nickel-and-dimed edge to the booking experience. And who wants that right at the point of the process where you should be feeling like you got a relatively good deal? Let’s hope we see more of this from other online agencies in the future.
For more tips on the topic, read Jessica Labrencis’ recent Tip of the Day on how to avoid booking fees.
