Earlier this week, Southwest partnered with MGM hotels, allowing Rapid Rewards members to earn points for stays at MGM’s 12 Las Vegas hotels.
Today, Hyatt announced that it has entered into a bilateral agreement with MGM, allowing Gold Passport members to earn and redeem points for stays at participating MGM hotels, and members of MGM’s M life program to earn tier credits for Hyatt stays. The reciprocal earning and redemption begins on June 20.
Beginning in August, elite members of either of the two programs will be eligible to receive equivalent status in the other program.
As with the Southwest tie-up, the reciprocal Hyatt benefits apply only at 12 MGM Las Vegas properties: Bellagio, ARIA, Vdara, MGM Grand, The Signature at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, New York-New York, Luxor, and Excalibur. The Beau Rivage, Circus Circus, and other MGM properties outside Las Vegas are not part of the deal.
This is a major step forward for Hyatt, which is currently represented in Las Vegas solely by a Hyatt Place that’s not even on the Strip.
