As if hoping to offer a break from all the swine flu news, JetBlue announced it will begin service to St. Lucia this fall (the exact date is yet to be determined). Flights will depart from New York’s JFK airport, and tickets are expected to go on sale in June.
The news comes just a week after JetBlue announced new service to Barbados. St. Lucia and Barbados are interesting choices for the low-cost carrier, because neither island is considered a “budget” destination. Perhaps the presence of a low-cost carrier will change all that.
