JetBlue, AirTran announce new low-cost routes

The invasion of the low-fare carriers on the domestic travel map continues. Earlier this week, both JetBlue and AirTran announced new routes for U.S. travel.

JetBlue began flying its first-ever daily nonstop flight between Oakland and Ft. Lauderdale on Thursday. The airline is offering an introductory sale price of $89 each way for travel through May 24. Regular prices for the route will range between $149 and $349 each way. With the move, JetBlue becomes the first airline to offer nonstop service between the two cities.

AirTran announced it will begin flying seasonal daily nonstop flights between Atlanta and Seattle starting May 25. The service will run through Labor Day this year. The airline will operate its new Boeing 737 aircraft on the route, which will see two daily departures from each city.
