[[JetBlue]] announced it will begin weekend flights between Boston and St. Maarten in February. The airline will fly to St. Maarten in the morning and back to Boston in the evening. The move is aimed at complementing the service JetBlue already provides via New York.
The new St. Maarten route comes amid a concerted push on JetBlue’s part to expand service to the Caribbean. Several new connections to Cancun, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic will also debut this winter. Clearly JetBlue sees potential in flying to these popular vacation spots, which don’t see a ton of service from low-cost carriers (besides [[Spirit]]). The region is heavily served by legacy carriers, so JetBlue is quickly establishing itself as an alternative to those airlines.
