On July 16, JetBlue will begin a two-month trial featuring fresh food for sale on its transcontinental flights between New York and Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Long Beach.
JetBlue’s current onboard food offerings are limited to free snacks or Eat Up boxes containing salami, cheese, crackers, and so on, for $5.99.
The new options include an antipasto platter with prosciutto, Camembert cheese and hummus ($9), a turkey croissant sandwich with a blueberry muffin and fresh fruit cup ($8), and a roast beef sandwich with Parmesan mayonnaise on a pretzel roll with a fruit cup ($10).
If the trial proves successful, the menu will be offered on all transcontinental flights, and other long-haul routes as well.
JetBlue claims the new food items will “make travelers think twice before hitting the airport food court prior to boarding.”
I think they’re right.
