Nightlife in Kandy

There are some unique and fun places to partake in the nightlife scene in Kandy, check out a few of the places listed here for a great experience.

Royal Bar

This pub has a heritage colonial feel with great happy hour cocktails. The food menu is full of snacks and is themed differently each evening. Unlike many places in Kandy, the Royal Bar stays open late and there are usually tuk tuks waiting outside to take you home. Take note, that they do not serve drinks at Royal Bar between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. because of the Temple of the Tooth. The dress code in the upstairs restaurant is fancy, and the prices are on the high side as well.

The Pub

This pub features a balcony, an upstairs bar and a downstairs bar. The club is located on Dalada Veediya gets busy in the evenings since it is one of only a few places to partake in Kandy nightlife.

Old Trinitians Sports Club

This is a members only club, but you can go as a guest for a fee of Rs. 50. The members are very friendly and the food and drinks are good quality and cheap, the bar is stocked with international drinks. There is a pool table and a giant screen showing cable TV, there is also a garden overlooking an international Cricket ground. The club is typically open from 5 pm until 11 pm and music starts around 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Don’t wear slippers or shorts to the club when you visit and street tour guides aren’t allowed inside, company tour guides are welcome.
