Just wanted to write a quick trip report about our trip to Vegas. This was my 2nd and this time had kids. It was me, older ds and dd10. 10 Years ago was me with friends so you can imagine much different this time around.
Arrival day; smooth flight on SW got to Vegas 11:00 THEIR time, so we were very tired. Quick to get our luggage and a cab to the Luxor. At this point we got a second wind, between seeing the hotel inside and out. Nice room, with slanted windows since we were staying in the Pyramid portion of the hotel.
Day 2; after a quick breakfast went to Mandalay Bay for the Shark Reef Aquarium then went off the strip to have a very good lunch at Bahama Breeze. After some long shopping time back on the strip we went back and relaxed in the room.
Day 3; we took a bus tour to the Grand Canyon. OMG! It was really just like looking at a postcard. It was so beautiful. Can’t wait to go back and spend more time there. This was an all day thing, we weren’t back to the room until really late.
Day 4; got up to go have an early lunch at the Hard Rock. The food there was excellent. Even though it was only burgers we had, for whatever reason they were really good. After getting back on the strip we decided to stop at the Venetian. What a beautiful hotel. All italian stores and shops. We did the Gondolas and enjoyed some Godiva Chocolate. Those Gondolas were very relaxing and a nice break from walking in the heat. At this point older ds had to leave to get ready to go to his reason for coming. He went to MGM to see Jay-Z and Mary J Blige in concert. I wanted to go also but didn’t really want to bring dd10. Anyway, he enjoyed it very much. He was 16th row from the stage. Me and dd did however stop at MGM on our way back to see their Lion Exhibit. It was ok. The animals were just sleeping for the most part. And once we got back to the Luxor we decided to see the museum there. Glad I didn’t have to pay for dd. Wasn’t worth $10.
Day 5; me and dd decided to go to the Imax Theatre at the Luxor. So we saw Deep Sea, it was a documentary about preserving the Oceans. Not the type of movies I was hoping for at the theatre, but oh well. We then headed back up the strip for lunch at Margaritaville. Very good fresh food. I had the Jambalaya and it was good. A little loud. But I knew that and still enjoyed it. We then went back to the Venetian to finish up, we wanted to do Madame Toussauds. Had a good time there and got many pictures. We then went to the Mirage for the Siegfried and Roy Secret Garden Exhibit. IMO my opinion a little overpriced at $15 but I guess if they were doing dolphin shows instead of just letting you view them then they would charge more. But I still got dd the cutest t shirt that came with a little lion cub.
Day 6; this was our first buffet since we had been there. And I guess when they say save the best for last, this fits. We took the monorail made our way up to Wynn. OMG! Another great meal. The best meal we had while being in Vegas. We got there for lunch and the things that stand out are; the flank steak, salmon, meatballs in marinara, lamb risotto, ribs and the no sugar added cake. Don’t let that no sugar added keep you away. It was all excellent. DD could not get enough of that cake alone. Even their candy apples were a good treat. I wanted sooo bad to go back to have this meal again before we left, but that did not happen. After monorail hopping, shopping and walking when we finally made our way back to our hotel, me and dd decided to go swimming at the Oasis Pool at the Luxor. It was nice especially the way they had the falls and dd loved being on the floats.
Last Day; decided after checking out to get something to eat before going to the airport. So we decided to try our luck at the buffet at the Luxor. Of course it didn’t measure up to Wynn, but it was good. The chicken wings were really good as well as the pork tenderloin. By the time we finished it was time to get to the airport to catch our flight. So here we are 3 days later back at home and missing it. But as far as I am concerned there is plenty to do for kids. We missed a few things that we wanted to do, but that is just another reason to go back.
