London What to Pack
One thing every traveler needs to know about London is that the weather can change drastically throughout the day, from rain to sunshine. This can make packing for your London trip a bit more difficult than for other popular travel destinations.
Luggage
No matter what you have planned for your London adventure, these luggage options are ideal for a short or long-term stay.
Winter Clothing
Even when it is cold, Londoners prefer to be fashionable. Leggings with dresses are not uncommon even when it is cold, but you will also see both men and women wearing trousers. Dark and neutral colors are more common in the winter as well.
Most people get by with tennis shoes, known as trainers in London, or fashionable high-length boots for women. You may want something with a bit of elevation to avoid wet conditions. The rain should not deter you from exploring London, especially if you bring along an umbrella and rain coat for exploring. Waterproof shoes or boots are helpful, too.
You will likely need a thick coat for the winter months, especially because it often begins to snow without notice in January and February. A hat, scarf, and pair of gloves are always good to have on hand should you choose to visit one of the local holiday markets or explore the town on one of the coldest days.
Summer Clothing
Always pack clothes you can layer. Temperatures can and do drop when the sun sets. A cardigan and light jacket over a tank top, shirt, or dress is great for an evening out. Pack tights or leggings if you intend to wear a skirt or dress on your outdoor excursions.
Britain has a maritime climate, so rain is frequent throughout the year. Sometimes it is heavy and sometimes it is light. For this reason, walking shoes that will repel water are ideal even when you are tempted to wear sandals.

Toiletries
You will be able to find most toiletries in London upon arrival, but tissues and lip balm are both helpful to have on hand in the winter. Though bright sunshine may be rare, sunblock is also handy. Good moisturizer will help relieve the pain of dry skin from the cool air, too. Toiletries are easy to find at Poundland, Tesco, Primark, Waitrose, and Sainsburys.
Packing for a trip to London is simpler than you think. Just be prepared for a whirlwind of weather situations.
