Returning to Europe, after a 36-year hiatus, became an adventure of historic proportion.
Visiting Venice, a unique city surrounded by water and culture, brought back fond memories of a place that always fascinates and enlightens. The markets, the monuments and the cathedrals all offer too many sites to absorb in just two days.
Dubrovnik, Croatia was a real surprise, with it’s walled Old City and rich religious heritage and diverse culture.
Witnessing Corfu, Greece and the original site of the ancient olympic games was the beginning of our adventure into Roman and Greek history and vast archival treasures. Climbing to the top of the Acropolis and viewing the Parthenon and other temples brought everything about Greece into full perspective.
Traveling to the islands of Mykonos and Santorini made our cruise excursions come to life . . . what beautiful, heavenly places, rich with great views, from every angle.
Traveling to see Ephesus, Turkey and the ancient ruins, temples and tombs was probably the most impressive site we had the pleasure to see. Standing on the grounds of Pompeii, where Mount Vesuvius covered the city with volcanic ash, was too surreal to describe in words.
Rome always is charming, culturally enriching and totally overwhelming, with the Vatican, St. Peters Bascilica and hundreds of architectural wonders . . . too numerous to experience in such a short visit.
This Crown Princess cruise was the pinnacle of our seventh ocean-going adventure. We were completely overwhelmed by the expansive ruins, architectural wonders and diverse cultural experience. Everyone must take this trip to these ancient civilizations, to see for themselves, the genius of a bygone era, preserved in stone and mortar, granite and marble . . . and gold !
