Walk Around the City
Head to the Montecatini Alto and tour the upper part of the old town. There’s a fort with views across the mountains and several churches. Come here in the evening for dinner and a chance to watch the sunset. The Piazza del Popolo has additional places for strolling and eating. You can find everything from classic Tuscan Italian cuisine to modern French and even Japanese food. For upscale shopping head for the Corso Matteotti and Corso Roma where you can find many Italian retailers.
Montecatini Alto
right next to Montecatini Terme lies the medieval hill town of Montecatini Alto. You’ll get charming streets to enjoy and magnificent views. You can drive up the town but many people prefer to take the funicular instead.
Thermal Baths and Spas
Eleven main thermal baths dot the town, offering a chance to enjoy the waters the Romans loved. One of the biggest spas in the area is the Terme di Montecatini Spa. This spa, like others in the area, offers spa treatments. You can spend an entire day being pampered. You’ll also find many other spas in the area. The Columbia Hotel Spa has bars and a dance club as well as spa luxuries like massages. For a public place right in the center of town try the Terme Redi. This has two public pools you can try. It also offers other places to relax such as mud baths and facials. For an authentic local experience that many Italians swear by, try the Adua & Regina di Saba Hotel Spa. This is a full service spa offering a wide range of things to try and do. The spa also provides meals. It makes an ideal weekend getaway to help reduce stress.
