New Alaska port for Regent Seven Seas

Yesterday, [% 9668 | | Regent Seven Seas %] and the Campbell River Indian Band (a.k.a. the Wei Wai Kum) inaugurated a new cruise terminal in Alaska. The Campbell River cruise terminal on Vancouver Island in British Columbia will exclusively host the Seven Seas Mariner on select Alaska cruises in 2007 and 2008.

The new port is the world’s first aboriginal cruise ship terminal, and scenery and wildlife are the main attractions. In the “Salmon Capital of the World,” Regent guests can hike along the Campbell River, take a floatplane to Read Island, or kayak in the Campbell River Estuary. A new marketplace and staging area are in the works, and when complete, the new structures will provide space for visitors to purchase crafts and learn about local culture.

Campbell River replaces Ketchikan as a port-of-call on select Mariner itineraries. This year, the ship will call at the new terminal during its June 13, June 27, and July 11 sailings. If you’ve already planned your summer vacation, you can visit Campbell River on select 2008 voyages, as well.
