Frontier will no longer serve complimentary warm chocolate-chip cookies in flight. In an email to employees sent on Friday, the carrier announced that the cookies will be replaced with bags of Pepperidge Farms Goldfish Crackers or Barnum’s Animal Crackers, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
A Frontier spokesperson told TheDenverChannel.com, “The company determined that offering a free perishable snack did not align with our low-cost business model.”
So it’s out with the warm free cookies, and in with the starchy, well-preserved bagged crackers.
Moreover, those snacks will cost you if you’re not a frequent flyer with the airline. According to the statement obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the bagged crackers will only be free for Ascent, Summit, Classic, and Classic Plus passengers, as well as unaccompanied minors. Everyone else will have to shell out a buck to buy them.
A Frontier spokesperson claims that the animal crackers better represent Frontier’s brand, as Frontier planes are painted with animal images. Is it too late to suggest animal-shaped cookie cutters?
The low-cost airline was famous for its gooey cookies, a rare free in-flight perk that had originally been served on Midwest Airlines. The cookie service will stop when the cookie supply runs out, so enjoy ’em while they last.
Will you miss Frontier’s free cookies?
